Walking Tour
The City of Summerside published a 50 page walking tour with a
foldout map in the year 2000. Its author, Faye Pound, based her
research on an earlier walking tour prepared by the Summerside
and Area Historical Society and came up with descriptions and
photos of 37 historic buildings. The tour is available
online.
A Century on Spring
Street

Historic Summerside
1900–1970
The most recent history of Summerside was co-published
by the City of Summerside and Nimbus Publishing in 2002,
as part of the Nimbus series "Images of the Past".
The author, Fred Horne, is currently the archivist at
the MacNaught History Centre and Archives. The book is
dedicated to the people who "saved old images of
family, friends, communities and businesses" and
he has used many splendid photos as a basis for his account
of Summerside’s growth from the turn of the century
to approximately 1970. |
