Building Renovations and Upgrades, May 2003 to February 2004
Structural
-
Stabilized general building structure and heavy-timber framing
in basement;
- Stabilized creeping vertical structure at exterior walls;
- Repaired wall/floor structure at various locations throughout
building as required;
- Stabilized veranda bearing;
- Repaired exterior brick foundation;
- Replaced under-designed Annex roof system (to match original).
Mechanical
-
Re-piped and re-zoned supply to existing (and new) radiators
throughout the building;
- Re-piped supply and waste lines to all plumbing fixtures;
- Replaced all plumbing fixtures;
- Installed new water, sewer and sprinkler lines to building;
- Provided emergency sprinkler system in basement;
- Provided air conditioning to the 2nd floor of the main building
(with provision for future AC service to the third floor);
- Installed new exhaust systems for all washrooms and kitchen;
- Provided upgraded heating capacity in basement;
- Installed new sump pit.
Electrical

Re-wired all existing electrical services and provided new
services where physical renovation was undertaken;
- Installed new telephone/data lines and cable TV service throughout
building (including the fitting out of a complete data closet
and provision for future fibre optics installation throughout
the facility);
- Installed service for wireless connection to City of Summerside
main network;
- Re-wired existing, on-site light fixtures (those with significant
historical interest) to contemporary electrical standards
for re-installation;
- Installed new ambient and accent lighting throughout the building;
- Installed new service panels and meter boxes;
- Replaced above-ground with buried electrical service to building;
- Installed new building wide security and fire alarm system.
