Ninth Season for Concerts in the Garden
08/07/2009 - 19/08/2009

With the arrival of warm summer evenings, Concerts in the Garden return to Wyatt Heritage Properties. During July and August, the garden between the beautiful Wyatt Historic House and the Lefurgey Cultural Centre rings with the sound of music on Wednesday evenings. Local bands take to the outdoor stage to perform maritime, folk, country, blues, and original music.

Anyone who enjoys the Island music scene is invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket and be part of the audience. Admission is by donation. Wyatt’s delicious home made ice cream is offered for sale during the intermission. The concerts begin at 6:30 pm and run through to 8:30 pm.

Concerts in the Garden are made possible through the sponsorship of Water Street Bakery and Deli.

The concerts are cancelled if the weather is inclement. If in doubt call Wyatt Heritage Properties at 432-1298 or 1296, or listen to local stations for cancellation notices.

The line-up is:

Wednesday, July 8: Not All There
A name can say a lot. The Irish Pub Band, Not All There, is never sure just how many band members are showing up for a gig but, regardless it is always a great show. Nathan Condon, the award winning Island fiddler, Gary Arsenault, Wendell Cameron, Mike Smith and Ramona Roberts are a few of the musicians you may see in the band Not All There.

Wednesday, July 15: JackTar
JackTar is a returning favourite to Concerts in the Garden. Audiences love the toe tapping Maritime and traditional music performed by this Summerside band. JackTar is made up of musicians Brian Rogers, Ernie Gallant, and Fred Martin. Plan to be clapping and singing along.

Wednesday, July 22: Stolen Roans:
Norm Bowser and Mike Dixon make up the group The Stolen Roans. These two professional musicians play “a little bit of everything” including roots blues, country and folk. Bowser and Dixon are two men with a passion for their music that is translated into their performance. They are a “must see” group.

Wednesday, July 29: Mike Dixon and James Phillips
One half of the Saddle River String Band, James & Mike perform original material alongside the Folk & Blues of the past century. With guitars, mandolin, harmonica & Kazoo you’ll hear everything from Jimmie Rodgers to Neil Young, original songs about life in Western PEI to the rags & blues of the Mississippi Delta.

Wednesday, August 5: Country Proud:
Country Proud is sure to keep everyone entertained with their variety of music; old and new country, 50's & 60's rock'n'roll, Newfoundland, East Coast, bluegrass, and some French selections. The band features Miscouche musicians Ronald Gallant and Juliette Squarebriggs, and Jack Darrach from Summerside. They guarantee your feet will never miss a beat.

Wednesday, August 12: JackTar
See information above.

Wednesday, August 19: Summerside Day
Summerside will celebrate arts, heritage and culture as a component of the Canada Summer Games on Wednesday, August 19th. There will be a variety of events held throughout the city.
