31/05/2010 | Water Street Bakery and Deli Concerts in the Garden set for the Tenth Season at the Wyatt Heritage Properties

Anyone who enjoys the Island music scene is invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket and be part of the audience. Admission is by donation. Wyatt’s delicious home made ice cream is offered for sale during the intermission. The concerts begin at 6:30 pm and run through to 8:30 pm.

The concerts are cancelled if the weather is inclement. If in doubt call Wyatt Heritage Properties at 432-1298 or 1296, or listen to local stations for cancellation notices.

The line-up for 2010 is:
Wednesday, July 7: Mike Dixon and James Phillips
Starting off the summer series is award winning musicians Mike Dixon and James Phillips. Mike and James perform original material alongside the Folk & Blues of the past century. With guitars, mandolin, harmonica & Kazoo you’ll hear everything from Jimmie Rodgers to Neil Young, original songs about life in Western PEI, to the rags & blues of the Mississippi Delta.

Wednesday, July 14: Stolen Roans:
Norm Bowser and Mike Dixon make up the group The Stolen Roans. These two professional musicians play “a little bit of everything” including roots blues, country and folk. Bowser and Dixon are two men with a passion for their music that is translated into their performance. They are a “must see” group.

Wednesday, July 21: JackTar:
JackTar is a returning favourite to Concerts in the Garden. Audiences love the toe tapping Maritime and traditional music performed by this Summerside band. JackTar is made up of musicians Brian Rogers, Ernie Gallant, and Fred Martin. Plan to be clapping and singing along.

Wednesday, July 28: The Ballagh Bunch:
The Ontario family group, The Ballagh Bunch will be the guest performers for the last concert in July. The six member group has performed all across Ontario since beginning in 2001. They sing, and perform fiddle and step routines. This will be their only show on Prince Edward Island so be sure to be in attendance. CD’s will be offered for sale.

Wednesday, August 18: The Gallant Family
The Gallant Family of Summerside could be said to be steeped in music! Peter Gallant is a songwriter and musician known on the Island scene. As an intermediate school music teacher he has influenced countless young musicians and his bands have many honours to their credit. Christine Gallant is an accomplished musician, choir director and church organist. Their five children are all musicians. Join The Gallant Family for an evening of entertainment that will feature a blend of music styles including traditional, jazz, and classical.

Wednesday, August 25: Not All There
Finishing off the summer concert series is Not All There. A name can say a lot. The Irish Pub Band, Not All There, is never sure just how many band members are showing up for a gig but, regardless it is always a great show. Nathan Condon, the award winning Island fiddler, Gary Arsenault, Wendell Cameron, Mike Smith and Ramona Roberts are a few of the musicians you may see in the band Not All There.
