Artifacts

Tiger RugThe Wyatt House is full of wonderful furnishings. Over a period of two and one-half years, approximately 1070 artifacts have been catalogued, from the largest furniture pieces to the smallest items. Many more are awaiting description.

The Wyatt family loved objects of history and had a fondness for collecting interesting furniture pieces. Ned Wyatt, especially, liked to attend auction sales and many valuable items were acquired in this way.

In addition to the furnishings distributed throughout the rooms of the two-storey house, there were hundreds of items stored in the large attic. The Wyatt family saved everything, including books, papers, letters, and clothing. Most of the textual materials have been removed to the MacNaught History Centre and Archives for storage and description.

On display on the walls and shelves in the house are unique paintings and ceramics and the hardwood floors are covered with lovely rugs and hooked mats. Many souvenirs of world travels are also to be seen.
